Duck, geese and swans must self-right from the side position. All decoys must have an anchor line attachment. There are no restrictions on painting. Lake Erie Singles Contest: Decoys must be carved to accentuate decoying capabilities, not necessarily realistic qualities. Decoys must be carved in traditional hunting decoy style - no detailed or fragile bills, necks, wing tips or tails. Decoys must be painted in traditional hunting decoy style - brushing, ragging, stippling, combing, scratching, blending or burned cork. Feather definition must be executed in a simplified manner. Decoys must self-right from an inverted position. Geese and swans must self-right from their side. Decoys must be equipped with a short line and clip to attach to a ¼ inch mother line. No weights required. Lake Erie Pairs Contest: The pairs contest will be judged by the same rules as the Lake Erie Singles. Contestant must enter 2 decoys with at one pair of a drake and hen same specie. Gunning Shore Bird Contest: Entries are to be carved life-size and must be full bodied. No silhouette decoys will be allowed. Separation between wings and tail is permitted providing both are durable. Simplicity of painting is required. Base and dowel (leg) are not considered when judged. Cocktail Bird Contest Entries must fit in a cocktail glass. Note to Carvers: Any carver may enter the Open Class. However, you must enter the Open Class if you have won a first, second or third Best of Show or numerous Best of Category awards.
